Spotted: Han’s RX-7 – the most recognizable FD in the world

If you don’t recognize this car, you’re obviously not into the JDM scene and certainly not a Fast & Furious fan.

Unfortunately the one in the photos is not the actual car used in the movie but it is pretty close.

Compared to most of the main vehicles featured in all of the Fast & Furious movies, Han’s Mazda RX-7 was a little more special, especially to those who were in the car scene back then. Not only was it featured running the iconic roads and streets of Tokyo, the car was also actually modified by one of the major Japanese tuning houses before it even got picked to be part of the F&F series.

The only other one with a similar history is Suki’s pink S2000 which was also by Veilside Japan.

The one spotted here is close to identical to the one in the movie minus many of the performance upgrades. Interestingly, there are actually several in Japan and around the world.

For those who may not know, the original Veilside demo vehicle was on show at Tokyo Auto Salon in 2005 where it won a couple of awards, including best of show.

The one released by Veilside at the time was in a candy apple red paint scheme which was the craze back in the early to mid-2000.

The car was choosen by Craig Lieberman who was the technical advisor for F&F. They made a deal with Veilside to have several vehicles produced for filming but wanted it in pearl orange.
